Hilo Hawaii

We are going to the National Volcano Park and Clyde is
assisting Junior with the driving

Clyde is seen here playing a duet with a park ranger
to appease the volcano goddess Pele
Pele the volcano goddess
You can see the smoke in the distance from the active crater Hileua
Lava flows from it every day.

Clyde is very interested in the steam vents spouting every where

Finally we show Mary and Clyde entering a lava tube – a remarkable structure that is formed when lava flows downhill. When the lava touches the air the outer surface cools and forms a skin. But the lava continues to flow down the tube until it is eventually emptied. This one was 10 feet high and ran for 100 yards for so. We came out the other side.
